Obituary of Arlo Daniel Bird
Please share a memory of Arlo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arlo Daniel Bird, 4, of Rome passed away with his loving family by his side on March 23, 2023 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 2018, in Rome, NY and was the beloved son of Sean and Ericka (Mackey) Bird, and big brother to Rory Bird.
Arlo faced life with a smile on his face and a brave spirit. Arlo loved school and was a pre-K student at Clough Elementary School where he was an absolute joy as a student and beloved friend to his classmates. He enjoyed playing video games with his dad Sean, especially if it was Mario as Arlo was an avid Mario fan. He was fascinated with claw machines and never passed up an opportunity to try and beat the claw machine for a brag worthy prize. He loved his family fiercely and was an amazing brother to his little sister and the sweetest son to his mom and dad who will forever be proud of his bravery, zest for life, and loving personality.
Arlo left us with the legacy of bravery and kindness. He took each day in stride and lived it to the fullest despite having many difficult days and having spent a great deal of his life fighting an unimaginable battle. Arlo touched many lives and will continue to be an inspiration to those lucky enough to have known him.
Arlo will be forever missed by his parents Sean and Ericka Bird of Rome; sister Rory; grandparents Richard and Wendy Bird; several aunts and uncles Nick and Danielle Clemens; Taylor and Shelby Yerrick, Kai Jones and Tucker Wright, and a cousin, Levi Yerrick; and his loving Clough Elementary School family.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Upstate Golisano's Pediatric Cancer Clinic and Unit 11G with special mention of Dr. Melanie Comito and RN Shaun Lamphear whose care and compassion was instrumental in Arlo's journey. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Arlo's life will be announced later this Spring.
