Obituary of Ruth Kipfer Lyman
Ruth Kipfer Lyman, 85, passed away at home on Sunday, August 11, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born October 27, 1933, in Rome, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Anken) Kipfer. Ruth graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1950. In June of 1953, she married Arthur W. Lyman at Trinity United Church of Christ in Rome, NY, a union of 66 years.
She was a life-long and active member of Trinity United Church of Christ serving on many committees throughout the years. She was a passionate and devoted member of the church choir for over 50 years.
She retired from Madison-Oneida BOCES in 1988 after 22 years of service.
She enjoyed many years traveling to Henderson Harbor on Lake Ontario with family and friends for some summer fun. She also was a member of the Camden Seniors. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her flower garden. In the winter she participated with her family and friends in many outdoor sports.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Cynthia Lyman, Rome; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Gatley, Holland Patent; six grandchildren and their spouses, Julie and Peter Gelinas, Heather and Scott Hewlett, Sarah and Carl Barcomb, Caitlyn and Brandon Montross, Carmen Favata, Dominick and Corrine Favata; nine great-grandchildren, Alaina and Andrew Gelinas, Gavin and Brinley Barcomb, Addison and Jack Hewlett, Alessia and Adrienne Favata and Paul Montross; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Bud and Kelley Kipfer of Ruskin, FL and Myrtle Kipfer of Rome; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Rosalie Lauber and brother, Albert Kipfer.
All are invited to call from 4-7pm Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751, Merrick Road, Rome. Ruth’s funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Rome with burial in Westernville Cemetery.
