Robert J. Palantino, Sr. 95, of Rome passed away Monday, March 5, 2018. He was born July 30, 1922 in Utica, the son of Anthony and Alice Young Paolantonio. He attended Utica Free Academy. Robert was an Army veteran of WWII.
He was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs minor league affiliates. On September 3, 1949, he married the former Eunice Lloyd in Americus, GA. She died on January 2, 1996.
Robert was employed with the NYS D.D.S.O . and Rome State School.
He was predeceased by his parents and son Robert J. Palantino, Jr.
Robert is survived by a son Dean C. Palantino of Rome who was his caretaker and best friend; three (3) grandchildren; Heather Morris of Deansboro, Robert J. Palantino III of Taberg and Jonathan Palantino of Rome; Five (5) great grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Morris, Jonathan, Kyle and Madelyn Palantino.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes. Arrangements are under the direction of Strong-Burns and Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome
