Obituary of Timothy John Ott
Timothy J. Ott, 65, of Rome, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep with his trusty dog Bandit by his side. He was born March 19, 1959 in New Hartford, NY, a son of the late James W. (Mary)Ott Sr. and the late Lillian (Harry) Hollenbeck. Tim was a graduate of Rome Free Academy class of 1977. He was a past president of the Loyal order of the Moose. His employment included delivering newspapers, carpentry with his father, he was also a talented cabinet maker for Serway Brothers for over 30 years until he retired due to disability.
With time on his hands the last five years he was a bead warrior (in the thousands) for the walking stick ministries of fellowship of Christian Farmers International, winning souls to the Lord. Tim was a handyman and would help family and friends with any project. He loved playing cards, watching CSI, Jeff Dunham and listening and singing to his favorite music including Rock, Classic Country, and his look alike Alan Jackson’s music. He loved animals; he always had a dog at his side, usually by rescue. He fed the wild birds, watched animal planet or any show that he could find including the show Tanked because he was an avid aquarium hobbyist most of his life. He also loved his cell phone, where he had the world at his fingertips, but by far his favorite thing to do was to have a robust conversation over a hot cup of black coffee with his brothers and sisters or anyone that would take the challenge; that is what we will miss the most about our Tim.
He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Peterson, Linda Ott; four brothers Michael (Gina) Ott, Ronald (Gina) Ott, Joseph (Elizabeth) Ott, Jeffery (Jennifer) Ott; uncles Bruce Ott and Earl Hall; aunt Mary Ott; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his sisters Frances Ott and Kimberly (Wayne) Hines; brothers James Ott Jr., Donald Ott, and Robert Parry Ott.
In keeping with Tims wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will take place in Westernville Presbyterian Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at the Ukrainian Club, 208 Canal St. Rome, NY Monday July 29, 2024 from 5:00-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers please consider fellowship of Christian Farmers International (area 8), 6251 Cavanaugh Rd. Marcy, NY 13403. Memo: Walking stick ministry in memory of Tim Ott.
