Glenda A. Whittaker
Glenda A. Whittaker, 51, of Marcy, N.Y. passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 12, 1972, in New Hartford, N.Y., daughter of John and Glenda Austin Jerominek. Glenda was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, and continued her education at M.V.C.C., St Elizabeth College of Nursing, and SUNY IT earning her BSN in Nursing. On July 20, 1996 she was united in marriage to Bradley G. Whittaker in a ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Rome. Together they raised two children, Sarah and James. Most recently Glenda worked as a home-care nurse for Nascentia Health. Glenda had a passion for gardening and tending to her flower beds. Summer was her favorite time of year, but she always loved decorating the house and watching Christmas movies with her family. She was a talented trumpet player who enjoyed listening to all genres of music. She loved hosting gatherings, and playing cards or games with her loved ones. On clear nights she enjoyed star gazing and watching fireflies.
She is survived by her mother, Glenda Jerominek of Utica; mother-in-law Joyce Whittaker of Marcy; her beloved husband, Brad of Marcy; two cherished children, Sarah Whittaker of New Hartford and James Whittaker of Marcy; two sisters, Ida (Tony) Vazquez of Utica, Serena Jerominek of North Carolina; two fur babies, Luna and Nero; a grandpup, Remy; along with various other friends and extended family members.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and support staff at Crouse Hospital for the wonderful care which they provided to Glenda during her stay.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contribution be made to the Abraham House of Rome 417 North Washington Street, Rome NY 13440.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 3-6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road Rome. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Wright Settlement Cemetery.
