Barbara A. Harshaw

   Barbara A. Harshaw, 77, of Rome, a devoted Jehovah Witness passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023, with her loving family at her side. She was born on July 6, 1946, in Gonzales, Texas, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lena Brown Smith. Barbara was united in marriage to Louis Harshaw on September 13, 1968, in Texas. Louis passed away on October 3, 2018. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall Church of Rome. Prior to her retirement Barbara was employed by Defense Finance & Accounting Services of Rome. Barbara’s true passion in life was spending time with family and friends and especially her grandchildren.

   She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pagie, and Stanley Boone of Smyrna, Georgia; three sons, Alvin Smith of Rome, Craig A. Smith (Theresa LaPointe) of Rome, Reginald Harshaw (Michelle Fee) of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Doris Warrior, Kathy Edwards, Faye Smith and Vivian Campos; six brothers, Raymond, Nathan, Karl, Tony, Robby and Bobby Smith; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Charles Smith and grandson, Stephen LaPointe.

   Barbara’s family would like to thank all the staff & nurses of Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Georgia, who always brought a smile to Barbara’s face.

  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1 P.M. at The Kingdom Hall of Rome.
