Obituary of Theodore J. LaBouef
Theodore J. LaBouef Sr., 87, Fort Mohave, Arizona formerly of Rome, NY passed away on December 4, 2023. Born on June 8, 1936, in Oswego, NY, he was the son of Theodore F. LeBouef and Dorothea J. Hopkins LeBouef. Theodore was educated in the Oswego school district, following his graduation from high school he attended college until he joined the United States Air Force. Theodore bravely served his country with great devotion and honor from 1955-1985 retiring as Senior Master Sergeant.
Theodore was united in marriage to Paula Suzanne Waters in December 1956, a ceremony which took place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Oswego. Theodore and Paula had eight children together and a home filled with love and laughter. The two shared a beautiful life together until Paula’s passing on May 17, 2015.
Theodore had a great love of the outdoors and was happiest when in nature, he especially enjoyed time spent fishing. He was a lover of animals and could always make a friend of them. He was a proud member of the Catholic faith and enjoyed fellowshipping with his church family and friends. Most of all, Theodore was a wonderful father and grandfather, his family brought him a great sense of pride.
Theodore is survived by his son, Theodore “TJ” LaBouef and wife Cherryl of Rome, NY; his daughters, Leslie and James Schuneman of Michigan, Lisa Delamarre of New Jersey, Cindy Soares of Rome, Karen and David Barone of Rome, Teresa and Wayne Hollenbaugh of North Carolina, Alicia and Dan Koeppel of Mississippi, Sandra and Dennis Theriault of Arizona; brothers Gary (Pete) LeBouef and wife Dottie of North Carolina and John LeBouef of California fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Brandie East; brother Robert LeBouef sister Janet Gaile LeBouef.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 3 to 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome. A celebration of Life will be held at 6 P.M. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery of Rome.
