Obituary of Carli Hartwig
Carli Danielle Hartwig
Carli Danielle Hartwig 19, of Rome, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 22, 2023. Carli was born February 22, 2004, in Rome, NY, to Jeffery and Sherry Hartwig of Lee Center, NY. Carli was a 2022 graduate of Rome Free Academy, who had plans of going to college to become a veterinary technician. Carli was currently self-employed, building a clientele of customers, while performing pet sitting, dog walking, and horse care services.
Anyone that met Carli knew that her passion in life was for the care of animals. She had immense empathy for any stray animal she encountered, and often set up temporary shelters for them. Running a close second to Carli’s passion for animal care was her love of plants and gardening. She was continually working around her home and grandmother’s house, whether picking flowers for a vase, or transplanting them from one place to another. Carli also had a love for fashion and an artistic sense of style and make-up design. Anyone that knew Carli would always look forward to what she would show up wearing from one day to the next.
Carli is survived by her loving mother Sherry Hartwig (Warren Mormile), sister Claudia Hartwig, grandmother Lorraine Dodge, aunt Tracy Hartwig, uncle Mark Dodge, special cousin Molly Reid, beloved fur babies Kermit, Buggy, Willie and Waylon and lifelong friends Danielle Semeraro and Grace Dombrowski. In addition, Carli is survived by her father Jeffery Hartwig, grandfather Ronald (Skip) Hartwig, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of her family. She is predeceased by her grandfather David Dodge, and grandmother Catherine Hartwig.
Her family finds peace in knowing that Carli has accepted her newly appointed position as Gate Keeper of the Rainbow Bridge. She will now be there waiting to welcome all our pets as they cross.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Humane Society of Rome NY, 6247 Lamphear Rd., Rome NY 13440.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 1 to 4 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 P.M.
