I met Elsie when I was a 16 year old Camp Aldersgate staffer. She was staying on the grounds, and loved to swim. It was near the end of the season, and I was the sole lifeguard left in the waning days of summer, so I got to lifeguard for Elsie's solo swim sessions. Since she was the only person in the water, I would just sit on the dock and talk to her while she swam. I was delighted to learn that she was the mother of Mark, who I knew as a thoughtful and kind Sunday School teacher at my home church in Rome. And I was delighted to hear her stories, and be treated as a "grown up" by her. She will be missed!
