I was blessed to know Jack Palmer Jr. for nearly 40 years. We played many big band and combo jobs together, and Jack taught percussion for me at the YMCA Center for the Creative Arts in the early 2000’s
Jack had a career most musicians can only dream about. He caught the end of the vaudeville era and played with many, many entertainers that were household names - and many more who would make the transition to the golden age of television. He was the driving force behind various big bands from NYC to Europe and back to central New York.
Jack had a joy and peace about him that can only come when you truly know your Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Every time we spent time together we spoke about our love for the Lord and our destiny to be with him in heaven for eternity!
We spoke about music, the glory days of American music, big bands, patriotism and love of God, and country.
Mostly though, it was his deep love of Rosie and his kids that stayed with you after you spent time with him. He was so proud of them.
Jack was all about family. He was humble beyond belief and had a laugh that was genuine and irresistible.
Sadly, I had not seen him since the Covid restrictions of these last few years and I do regret that.
What a joyful reunion it will be when we all sit down in God’s kingdom and make glorious music with his father Jack Sr. and the countless iconic musicians that have preceded Jack in their journey home to the Lord.
Jack Palmer Jr. - Disciple, Husband, father, friend, mentor, teacher, performer, musician.
A man of humility, a man of God. He was as good a Christian and as good a man as has ever or will ever grace our paths.
Until we play again Jack.
Love You! All praise and honor and glory to our savior and King, Jesus Christ.
