Obituary of Congetta Spinelli

Congetta “Connie” Spinelli, 103, of Rome, passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2022. She was born on December 8, 1918, in Utica, NY, a daughter of the late Antonio and Theresa Mazza Mastroianni. On October 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to Chester Spinelli at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church of Utica. Chester predeceased Connie on June 16, 2002. Connie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her true passion in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Connie always wanted to know where they were and what they were up to. She was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for over 24 years as a secretary prior to her retirement in 1981.
Connie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Patty Spinelli; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Thomas Panasci all of Rome; six grandchildren, Thomas (Jen) Panasci, Michael (Lori) Panasci, Todd (Michelle) Panasci, Robert (Kelly) Panasci, Cristi Spinelli and Shari Spinelli; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Marisa, Jack, Emily, Sophia, Lily, Mia, Addy, Jace, Jenna and Nick; and a special caregiver, Betty Narrows.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Johns Cemetery.
