Obituary of Timothy J. Kirk

Timothy J. Kirk Timothy J. Kirk, 65, of Rome, passed away due to complications from COVID on February 17, 2022, at the Oneida Health Hospital with his loving family at side. He was born on April 10, 1956, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late Gerard and Ann McCann Kirk. Tim was a graduate of Rome Catholic High School and went on to continue his education at Morrisville Community College. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Stanwix Men’s Club, Frank J. Steczko Post, Point Rock Fish & Game Club, Ukrainian Club, V.F.W. of Rome and Oriskany Riders Club. Tim was formerly employed by Hoke Auto and Walter’s Chevrolet of Camden. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his cars and traveling country roads on his motorcycle. Tim was an accomplished cook who enjoyed cooking for the masses at family gatherings. Friends and family could always count on Tim for sound advise and the best bear hugs. He will be remembered as everyone’s Dad. Tim is survived by his cherished daughter and son-in-law, Katelyn and Steven Stokes; his beloved fiancée, Shelly Wnuk of Rome; two stepchildren, Melissa Wolkowicz "Sweet Pea"(Brandon Kidd), Mathew Wolkowicz (Stephanie Kassay); a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Emily “Bunny” Kirk, Lee Center, four grandchildren, Jack, Keira and Samuel Stokes, Greyson Kidd; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 4 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2-4 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery in the Spring.
