Obituary of Frederick H. McFadden

Frederick H. McFadden, 84 of Rome, N.Y. passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with COPD and dementia. Born in Utica, NY he was a son of Gordon and Caroline McFadden. Fred was a passionate and beloved 6th grade teacher at Ridge Mills Elementary School for 37 years. He was also an avid collector of anything Judy Garland, as well as other movie memorabilia. He enjoyed trading and conversing with many other collectors worldwide and has been noted in several books as a source of material on Judy Garland and the Wizard of Oz. Fred is survived by his husband and companion of 35 years, Dennis Cleveland; his sister, Carol Calhoun; brothers in law Russell (Peggy) Cleveland, and Robert Cleveland; sister in law, Sheila (Robert) Emborski; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother John. All are invited to call on Friday, May 14th from 4PM-7PM. A funeral Service will follow on Saturday, May 15th at 10AM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rome Cemetery. Anyone planning to attend are asked to please wear a mask and adhere to current social distancing guidelines.
