Zigmund “Ziggy” Mikucki, 72, of Rome and formerly of Long Island, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Rome Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Poland on January 3, 1948, a son of the late Theodore and Stefania Mikucki and moved to the United States in 1960. Ziggy honorably served his country in the United States Army. On June 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Maria Sudol; a blessed union of over 43 year until her passing on May 18, 2016. Ziggy retired from Gdynia America Lines after many years of employment.
Ziggy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and James DeAngelo of Rome; a son, Steven Mikucki of Chicago; three cherished grandchildren, James, Jr., Olivia, and Sofia DeAngelo; three sisters, Teresa & Alfred Carlson, Elizabeth and Lester Obrycki, and Hania and Jeffery Zimoch; two brothers, Theodore and Barbara Mikucki and Henry and Jadwiga Mikucki.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff of Rome Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit, 2 North, and the Residential Healthcare Facility for the wonderful care and concern shown to Ziggy and his family.
Mr. Mikucki’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00AM in St. John the Baptist Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Paul Angelicchio. Anyone attending is asked to please wear a face mask and adhere to proper social distancing protocols. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility Activities Department.
