Obituary of Archangelo J Recchio

Archangelo J. Recchio, (Archie) 83, of Rome, passed away on March 17, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford. He was born on February 25, 1937, a son of the late Steven and Victoria Gratch Recchio. From 1954-56 Archie proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. He was united in marriage to Virgina Cingranelli in 1959, in St. John the Baptist Church, Rome. For over 25 years Archie was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base, until his retirement. Archie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Galliano Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Archie and his wife spent many enjoyable times traveling and visiting horse racing tracks around the country. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Ann Recchio - Lusher and Sidney Lusher, Niskayuna N.Y., a son, Steven J. Recchio, Rome; one sister, Anne (Peter) Curtice, MI, a granddaughter, Christina Lusher, a sister-in-law, Marion Recchio, Rome. Archie was predeceased by three brothers, Francesco, Frank and Alexander “Sandy” Recchio; five sisters, Mary Atkinson, Lottie Mercurio, Carmella Russell, Antoinette Barbato and Augie Aquillo. The family wishes to thank caregivers, Shannon Kent, Julie Tucker, Candace Hines, Patricia D’Aiuto Gifford, and Carmen Cardona for the wonderful care they provided to Archie. Also, a special thank you to sister-in-law Marian Recchio for always being here when we needed help, and to our many friends for their acts of Kindness. Due to the current Pandemic, Funeral Services are private, and there were no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment with military honors took place in St. John’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. “If love could have saved you, you never would of died”
