Obituary of Benjamin R. Kotary

Benjamin R. Kotary Benjamin R. Kotary 87, of Oneida, passed away on January 15, 2020 at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility. He was born on April 30, 1932 in West Leyden, N.Y. a son of the late Justin and Clara Kotary. Benjamin attended Holland Patent Schools and was a former member of St. Leo’s Church, Holland Patent. He was united in marriage to Gloria Ashley. Benjamin was a self-employed Milk Transporter and Farmer. One of his favorite pastimes was tending bar at the Floyd Field Days. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Kotary, Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Brenda Kotary, Rome; a sister, Claire Vanderhoof, Verona; two grandchildren, Gloria Wright and Jeanette Myers; five great grandchildren, Walley Jr. and Ryan Wright, Ethan and Dylan Myers and Donna Kotary. Benjamin was predeceased by a daughter, Terry Brundage; a brother, Howard Kotary; two sisters, Florence Kaun and Anna Baird. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday from 5-7 P.M. prior to the service. A spring interment will take place in Wright Settlement Cemetery.
