Obituary of Catherine Louise Collins
Catherine L. Collins, 59, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019 after a long illness.
Cathy was born on February 7,1960 in Rome, New York to McKinley and Eleanora (Wallace) Collins. She served her country in the United States Army from 1978-1982 when she was honorably discharged having attained the rank of Sergeant E5 as a LARC-V Watercraft Operator. When she returned home she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. While in high school, she was a historical interpreter for the newly opened Fort Stanwix National Monument, Rome New York.
She is survived by her fiancé, William James A. King; William’s son and daughter-in-law, Desmond and Tiffany King; grandchildren, Kaedence, Mya, and Carter Williams; her mother, Eleanora L. Collins; two brothers, Allen Collins, Charles (Tirza) Collins; a sister Elaine A. Collins-Allen; an aunt, Jeannette Scott; cousins, Daryl (Carla) Wilson, Lorraine (Bruce) Newell, Denise (Mark) Phillips; five nephews, William Pointer, David Allen, McKinley, Drew and Matthew Collins; two nieces, Charisse (Alvin) Pointer-Smith, Kirstyn Collins; great-nephews, Alexander, Evan, Camren Smith; great-niece, Madison Smith; and a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Emma Collins; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Catherine Wallace; her father, McKinley Collins; her sister, Sherry Collins-Pointer; aunt, Arcenia Collins- Wilson; and nephew, Jason Collins.
Services will be held Saturday, June 22nd at 10am at Strong- Burns and Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome New York. Brian Lothridge, First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be immediately following in the Westernville Presbyterian Cemetery, Stokes-Westernville Road, Westernville, New York.
Friends are invited to call on Friday June 21st from 4-7pm at Strong-Burns and Sprock Funeral Home.
