Wendy Ann Nicholson
Wendy Ann Nicholson, the daughter of the late Carl and Patricia Graham Nelson, was born July 11, 1959 in Rome, NY. She attended Rome Public schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1977. After graduation, she attended Ithaca College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1981. In 1995, she earned a Master's Degree from Troy State University. She was an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Wendy was previously married Paul Nicholson, for more than twenty years and they had two sons, David and Daniel.
Wendy enjoyed working very much as a Physical Therapist for the Ann Arundel School District, until her retirement in 2017. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Some of her favorite past-times were eating, travelling and shopping.
On February 26, 2019, after a long battle with cancer, Wendy peacefully passed away in her home in Odenton, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Patricia Nelson; her sister, Carlese Nelson and a nephew, Darnell Nelson.
Wendy is survived by two sons, David of Melburne, FL and Daniel of Odenton, MD; her significant other, Kenny Jackson of Odenton, MD; a sister, Kimberly Davis of Rome, NY; a brother, Leonard (Robin) Nelson of Savannah, GA; a special brother, David (Daphiene) Martin of Odenton, MD; her nieces, Desiree, Courtney, Briana, Brooke, Olivia and Aria; her nephews, Marcus, Richard (Antoinette), Cory, Canton, Amare; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jon Weingart, Dr. John Laterra and the staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital for their wonderful care. Also,we thank the Hospice staff for their special care and comfort given to Wendy and her family.
Funeral services for Wendy will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery.
She will be sorely missed.
