Obituary of Frederick E. Getbehead

Frederick E. Getbehead Frederick E. Getbehead, 64, of Rome, passed away on January 20, 2019, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1954, in Rome, N.Y., a son of the late Franklyn and Thelma Van Dresar Getbehead. Fred was a graduate of Rome Free Academy class of 1972. He enjoyed hunting and had a passion for golf. He was a member of the Wickwire Brook Sportsman's Club and the Mohawk Glen Golf Course. His passion for golf lead him to work at several area golf courses. Fred work at Teugega Country Club, Atunyote Golf Course and the Mohawk Glen Golf Course where he truly enjoyed working with his good friend Mike. Fred was formerly employed by Revere in Rome and Special Metals in New Hartford. Fred is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Anne Getbehead, Rome; two nephews, Leon Ferenti and Tyler Getbehead; a great nephew Boston Ferenti; a great niece and little buddy, Emily Getbehead. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Ella Mae Moore "Cookie". The family wishes to thank the Staff at Rome Memorial Hospitals Skilled Nursing Unit, Hospice & Palliative Care and Dr. Cesana for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Fred. Memorial contributions may be made to the America Cancer Society 110 Lomond Court, Utica, N.Y. 13502, Rome Memorial Hospital S.N.F. 1500 North James Street Rome, N.Y. 13440 or Hospice & Palliative Care 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413. In keeping with Fred's wishes, Funeral Service's will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery.
