Dean G. Cooper
Dean G. Cooper, 59, of Verona Beach, passed away peacefully at his home on June 1, 2023, with his beloved wife and family at his side, following a brief illness. He was born on July 27, 1963, in Rome, N.Y., the son of Richard H. and Donna Patch Cooper. Dean was a graduate of V.V.S. High School, Class of 1981. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1983, serving his country until 1986. While being deployed, Dean suffered an injury which ended his Military career. Dean was united in marriage to the love of his life, Colleen Butler and they were inseparable for 36 years. Together they attended college and owned and operated Sliver City Café in Sherrill and Deano’s Blues & Barbecue in Canastota. Most recently people will remember Dean as the former Chef at Ebeneezer’s Restaurant in Sherrill. Dean was an all-around sportsman who especially enjoyed golf and fishing. He volunteered at the 50 Forward Center in Verona Beach cooking lunch for the residents. He was a talented musician who loved to play the Blues, Dean played in the Braden James Band and All Cued up band which toured around Florida. No one will ever forget the way Dean had a way of making everyone laugh with his charismatic personality and his spontaneous jokes.
Dean is survived by his mother, Donna Cooper; wife, Colleen Cooper of Verona Beach; a cherished daughter, Jennifer Hampton, Liverpool; a brother and his best friend and sister-in-law, Wayne and Erin Cooper, Vernon; a sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Rocky Valentine, Rome; three grandchildren, Isabella, Amica and Kylah and many nieces and nephews. He had many adoring extended family and friends. Dean was predeceased by a son, Ryan Cooper, his father, Richard H. Cooper and brother, Richie Cooper.
Dean was loved and treasured by all and will be missed beyond measure.
A Celebration of Life along with Military Honors will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 12noon, at the Gerald B.H. Salomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
